Veterinary Practitioners and Veterinary Nurses who wish to apply to the Council to restore their name to the Register may do so by completing the restoration application form, available on our user portal The Veterinary Council of Ireland – Login

A certified scanned copy of an ID document issued in Ireland (e.g. Irish passport or Irish national ID card) is required to accompany the application. If using ID issued outside Ireland, a notarised copy is required. Evidence of current professional status must also be provided, where applicable.

Fees for Restoration to the Register

There is a fee payable for registration and restoration of registration. Fees are published for your information here: VCI Fees Regulations 2025 S.I. No. 455 of 2025

After you have submitted your completed application, it will be reviewed by the Registration Team. If everything is in order you will receive an email inviting you to complete the registration process and to pay the applicable registration fee.

*Note that you are not permitted to practise veterinary medicine or veterinary nursing until you have received email confirmation from this office that you have been entered onto the Register.

Evidence of Current Professional Status is required

Where an applicant for registration holds or has held registration as a veterinary practitioner or veterinary nurse in another State or jurisdiction with any licensing or registration veterinary practitioner body, the applicant is required to provide in respect of each registration:

i) Details of such registration in another State or jurisdiction as a veterinary practitioner, including registration numbers where applicable;

ii) Evidence of his or her good standing or current professional status held in relation to each registration(s) in another State or jurisdiction;

The evidence referred to in point (ii) above shall be in the form of formal certification or a letter addressed directly to the Veterinary Council from the relevant licensing or registration body, which is not older than three (3) months via registration@vci.ie
