The Veterinary Council of Ireland (“the Council”) is undertaking a review of its Premises Accreditation Scheme, and we welcome your feedback.
As part of its commitment to promoting high standards in veterinary care, animal welfare, and public confidence, the Council is conducting a full review of the Premises Accreditation Scheme (“PAS”). The PAS defines the minimum standards and requirements that all registered veterinary premises in Ireland must meet to operate legally and safely.
We are seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders, including veterinary practitioners and nurses, practice owners, non-registered practice staff, animal owners, industry partners, and members of the public on how the scheme can be improved, updated, and adapted to reflect the current and future needs of veterinary services in Ireland.
This consultation is expected to take approximately 20 minutes to complete and will close on 29 August 2025. All responses will remain anonymous.

The Council extends its gratitude to stakeholders who take the time to engage in this consultation and to those who give the enclosed information careful consideration.
All feedback will be carefully reviewed and analysed by the Council as it continues its review of the Premises Accreditation Scheme. A summary report will be published later this year, once the review is complete and ahead of the 2026–2029 Certificate of Suitability renewal process.
If you have any questions or require further guidance in relation to this consultation, please contact the Council’s Executive Office by phone on 01 6684402, or by email at pas@vci.ie.
