Notice of the Election of Five Registered Veterinary Practitioners and One Registered Veterinary Nurse for Appointment to the Veterinary Council of Ireland
The term of office of 6 elected members of Council will terminate on 31 December 2025. In accordance with the provisions of the Veterinary Practice Act 2005 (as amended), an election for 5 Veterinary Practitioners and 1 Veterinary Nurse to the Veterinary Council will take place.
The 6 candidates who receive the highest number of votes are chosen for appointment to hold office from 01 January 2026.
Those registered on the Register of Veterinary Practitioners and Register of Veterinary Nurses on the 24 July 2025 are entitled to stand for election and vote in the election, in accordance with the Veterinary Council Veterinary Practitioner Election Rules and Veterinary Nurse Election Rules, and also available to access on the nomination site.
Nominations
A nomination form has been issued electronically via Mi-Voice, as the electronic election service provider, to all entitled to vote thus commencing the 2025 Election. Please ensure this email address VCI Elections 2025 (elections@mi-voice.com) is authorised in your email account.
The email contains a link to the online nomination form, where candidates can submit their nomination, enter the details of their two supporters, submit a short election statement and upload a photo. The link can also be accessed here: https://www.mi-nomination.com/vci
Every veterinary practitioner candidate must be nominated using the online nomination form and proposed and seconded respectively by two registered veterinary practitioners entitled to vote in the election.
Every veterinary nurse candidate must be nominated using the online nomination form and proposed and seconded respectively by two registered veterinary nurses entitled to vote in the election.
Mi-Voice, the electronic voting company, will contact each candidates’ supporters by email to confirm their support for the nomination.
Candidates will receive confirmation emails that include a link to a personal online dashboard, allowing them to track the progress of their nominations.
It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure their supporter endorses their nomination before the nomination deadline, which is 17.00 hours on Friday, 05 September 2025.
Voting
Mi-Voice will send voting information to eligible registrants by email on Wednesday, 17 September 2025. Each email will contain a unique link to the voting site, enabling registrants to cast their votes securely. Reminders will be sent during the voting period. Voting will be open at 9:00am on Wednesday, 17 September until 17:00 hours on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
Registrants who misplace their voting instructions or require further assistance, will be able to request that their voting link be re-issued by visiting www.mi-vote.com/secure/vci or by contacting Mi-Voice Support at support@mi-voice.com or by telephone on 01 513 3293.
