Registration

It is a legal requirement and, therefore, essential that you register with the Veterinary Council prior to engaging in any type of Veterinary work in Ireland.

Registration Examination

The Registration Examination is available for Veterinary Practitioners who would not otherwise qualify for registration. Part One of the Council's Registration Examination will be held on 31 March 2010, applications must be received by 16:30 on 12 February 2010. The Register

The Council maintains and keeps the Register of Veterinary Practitioners and only persons whose names are entered and retained in the Register are entitled to practise veterinary surgery in the State. Read More

Right of Establishment

With the implementation of EU 2005/36/EC, as provided for in the Veterinary Practice Act 2005. The Fee for the issue of a Right of Establishment Certificate is €28.00. Read More

Provision of Services

Provision of Services for short professional visits between one country and another involve Veterinary Practitioners in certain formalities. These formalities are particularly relevant to veterinary practitioners who reside near the border between two Member States such as between Ireland and Northern Ireland and have clients on the other side of the border. Limited Registration

The Veterinary Practice Act 2005, as laid out in Section 45, makes provision for limited registration in two circumstances: (a) To participate in a disease eradication programme (b) To participate in the provision of approved programmes of education or further education. Read More
