The jurisdiction of the Council extends to ensuring proper professional conduct amongst the members of the profession and to applying a range of sanctions, up to and including erasure from the Register, on any registered person.
A registered person can be sanctioned if:
(a) found guilty of professional misconduct;
(b) unfit to practise by reason of physical or mental disability;
(c) his or her registration is erroneous due to a false or fraudulent declaration or misrepresentation;
(d) he or she fails to comply with any provision of the Acts or any regulations made under them;
(e) he or she has been convicted of an offence triable on indictment.
