Registered Veterinary Practitioners may now apply for Specialist Registration in Ireland in accordance with the Veterinary Practice Act 2005 and the requirements and procedures of the Veterinary Council of Ireland. A 'Veterinary Specialist' is a veterinary practitioner registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland who has a higher degree of skill and/or knowledge above that of a general veterinary practitioner in the same discipline.
