Premises Accreditation Scheme

In accordance with Part 9 of the Veterinary Practice Act 2005 the Veterinary Council has introduced a mandatory Premises Accreditation Scheme (PAS). There are four classifications of premises:-

Registered Veterinary Practice (RVP)

Registered Veterinary Clinic (RVC)

Registered Veterinary Hospital (RVH) - Companion Animal (CA) Equine (EQ) Food Animal (FA)

Registered Mobile Veterinary Unit (RMVU)

Continuing Veterinary Education

From 1 January 2012 Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) became mandatory for renewing a Licence to Practise annually. This requirement necessitates that a registrant renewing a licence to practice must fulfill his/her CVE obligation in the CVE credit year (1 August - 31 July) immediately prior to a licence renewal. A veterinary practitioner is obligated to achieve 20 CVE credits and a veterinary nurse is obligated to achive 12 CVE credits.

Continuing Veterinary Education—CVE

Continuing Veterinary Education is mandatory for renewing a Licence to Practise from 1 January 2012. All registrants renewing their licence to practice will need to have achieved the required number of credits in the CVE period 1 August 2010 to 31 July 2011. This obligation to achieve 20 credits for the renewal of the Licence to Practise will apply also to each year after 2012.
